My dad was a GM master mechanic and he had multiple sclerosis and was in a wheel chair by the time he was in his early forties. As I was still learning to be a mechanic (and honestly afterwards) I'd often consult him about the vehicles I was working on. He enjoyed the conversation and I appreciated his knowledge. Now that I'm sidelined I find myself in the same position. My middle son is having car troubles and he's consulting with me rather than asking for my direct help like he'd normally do. I have to admit this entire process has made me more appreciative of my dad's circumstances and I've found myself thinking if him more often.

I've found that you don't appreciate doing normal things until you can't.
Not saying I'm normal.....

You're right about that. I've never been this seriously injured, a broken bone here or there but nothing serious. I've taken all the little things in life for granted. This is definitely a wake up call to go out and smell the roses occasionally.
