Re: Before and after pics of $2500.00 Ebay Triumph

I don't really see much of a difference. What did you do exactly?

I gave them to my sister that lives in a Condo to put in the common free stuff area. they were there for 2 weeks and she finally dumpster-ed them. They really were awful.

I'm glad they didn't, it's not supposed to be black.

Re: Before and after pics of $2500.00 Ebay Triumph

I know its not supposed to be..just always wondered why they (i.e., the factory) didn't.

Take a /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/bow.gif You done good now we all need to stop drooling as it really messes up the great wax job.

Re: Before and after pics of $2500.00 Ebay Triumph

Great looking car. I especially like the difference in the engine bay. Looks like lots of work, and it turned out great.

Re: Before and after pics of $2500.00 Ebay Triumph

Just about the whole engine bay was coated in what I assume was Waxoyl. Little by little I am getting most of it off. It's not easy to remove but it has protected all of the metal brackets, hoses and parts. Even the top of the EGR valve has it's original sheen. Hardest area to clean has been the firewall. I've been using everything from carburetor cleaner to 409 with small detail brushes from Autozone.

Re: Before and after pics of $2500.00 Ebay Triumph

If it runs as good as it looks you stole the car.

Re: Before and after pics of $2500.00 Ebay Triumph

I put a few miles on it this weekend. it seems to run better and better the more it is driven. Yes, it runs and drives as good as it looks. I consider myself fortunate, it was definitely a good deal.

Oddly enough, that WAS done on at least US-spec. Spitfires for the 1972 model year. Even odder is the fact that, from what I've seen on a couple of original cars of that model year, it apparently was done after taillamps, etc., were bolted into place. Quite possibly it was done in port or at regional distributors or somewhere after the cars left the factory.
