MGB Been gone to long...

I joined this site a some years back when i bought a 78 B "appliance white." I took some time redoing the suspension changing to an older rebuilt dizzy from jeff, refinishing my wire wheels, sending them off to be trued and get new tires, and getting aquatinted with a car my dad grew up. But I had no reference to.

When I started driving it, I was blown away by how different it was to my previous car. ( A 21 foot long 1975 Cadillac Eldorado) I turned it into my daily driver and decided to keep it on the road through the winter. Decent tires and spray it off once i week and i was happy... Cold, but happy, with the 300 miles a week drive. Though you may remember most of my posts where "frantic pleas" as it was my daily. For the responses and patience showed to a first timer i am still grateful.

By the time spring hit i was so frustrated with the brake lines failing, or clutch fluid leaking out in the middle of nowhere, constant carb problems due to my lack of tuning ability, starter burned out, and every electrical problem you think of thanks to a wonderful mix of Lucas and aggressive hack jobs by previous owners. "Who needs radios in these music boxes of cars anyway?" How would you hear the definitive "ping" of a bolt hitting pavement at 70 mph with a radio? ... I've rambled enough.

So in aggravation, i put the car to sleep in a barn in upstate new york and bought a honda civic. 50xxx miles problem free with that. wheres the fun??? I was so frustrated i couldn't even sign on to the wonderful world of BCF. Well, a few years pass I pick up a gal crazy enough to want to be part of my life, we get married about a month ago and settle in to eastern idaho. One day she vocalizes her life long desire for a small white convertible... You have no idea what i have buried in new york do you sweetheart?

I must be going crazy because here i am in new york and that B is pulled out and im excited to wake it up and get it road worthy enough for a new york to idaho straight shot end of the month sometime.... All in all what im saying is its good to be back!

Thanks Drew, before I made this post i spent a month or so back reading the MG forum so i would be up to date as well as not re ask questions that have been informatively answered here. I have to say it was a joy to go along for the ride of your B purchase and projects you found along the way.

You're welcome! Tony was a good buddy, and I'm thankful both for having known him and for whoever figured out how to archive "lost" websites!
