Becoming a seller on ebay

This must be the most confusing, convoluted, and mystic process in the universe. There are so many hoops to jump through, and several of the "become a seller" pages actually have titles like "Link Banking Information for Singapore", or "After entering your bank details, we'll send you an email with further instructions within 5 or 6 days." Oh, c'mon.

Has anyone actually been able to set up a seller account on ebay recently?

I stopped selling on eBay years ago when they required your bank account information in order to be a seller. No thanks eBay.

You should set up a separate bank account from you primary personal account just for the EBay sales. This keeps your sales and transactions separate from your personal finances. If there is ever any sort of issue (fraud, scams, etc), only that dedicated account is exposed. This also makes bookkeeping much easier by keeping all the sales, expenses, taxes, etc., in one consolidated place.

That’s the reason I pulled the plug on eBay…. There was no guarantee that they could protect my bank information from being hacked.
Sure, I could setup a separate account but I don’t sell enough to justify it.

I did that, but at about the same time my user name was changed resulting in a loss of all my prior activity. I've tried to contact ebay to reinstate my account, but have had no response. Pretty much done with ebay. That checking account is closed now.

To me, the separate bank account would be easy. But man, the pages of links you have to go to even to start selling - after six pages of "go here and follow the instructions", and still no seller account, I just gave up.

Us "small fry" aren't important to ebay, especially when sellers of thousands of items push us out.

Is there a similar app to ebay? I use Craigslist a lot for buying used things, but I can't post a "nationwide" ad - only a few regional ads.

The only one that springs to mind is Etsy.

Etsy looks better ... but it still requires my bank information. But why, if I only accept payment through my PayPal account?

Am I missing something?

I was selling a lot of stuff on ebait years ago and dropped them when they changed their banking policy.
There were much more easy ways to sell tools and old Jag stuff like craigslist and on forums too.

It is so they have your account info to automatically charge their fees.

I forgot to include another BIG REASON to drop ebait as my way to sell things is the buyers have too much power to get refunds.
My experience was that disputes ALWAYS went in favor of the buyer and that was costing me a bunch.
Also, seller fees were going thru the roof, so I dropped them as a way to sell things.

I recently made a purchase on eBay that was shipped from the Uk. Two weeks after it was β€œsupposed” to arrive I contacted the seller to inquire about the package. Because I had to choose a subject for the message, I chose β€œnever received package”.
eBay refunded my money and the package arrived 2-3 days later.
I contacted the seller and it turned out that the package was delayed due to the tariffs.
I also sent the seller $ via PayPal.

A while back (several months ago) I bought a Makita 7 inch grinder from a supplier on EBay. I paid for a single grinder, but what I received were two Makita 7-inch grinders - both brand new.

It took me quite a while to convince the seller that I got two but only paid for one and that I wanted to send one back because I didn't pay for it. They finally sent me a return shipping label and I was able to send it back, but man it was a real goat rope to get it done.

Goat rope?
Sounds like a regional expression.
I never heard it my self and I have been around the block.

Goat Rope:
Definition: A hectic, confusing, disorganized situation, often with too many people.
Oh, like a cluster......never mind.
