I'm in the middle of putting my engine back together and discovered I haven't ordered connecting rod bearings. If the crank was ground 20 over for the main bearings, does that mean the rod bearing journals were also ground 20 over?

Lonnie, most likely they were, but you should measure to be sure.

It varies. When I rebuilt my engne, the mains were machined to 10 under, the rods to 20 under (or maybe the other way around, I forget.

If you haven't had the crank turned, take a look at the old bearings. They will be stamped with the size. If they have no size stamped, they are the original size.
 
I called my machine shop guy and learned my new thing for the day. The grinder put dots on the front of the crank, one set on the top, one set on the bottom. The number of dots (two each in my case) indicates to what thickness they had been ground. My two dots means 20 over.
