BE trunk?

I know there have been several discussions here about various BE aftermarket bonnets, but I stumbled on an ad in a 1961 magazine today for this at the other end:

Anybody ever see one? It reminds me of the lid I built for my Arkley body.

Cool! What is $59 in today's money?

$59.95 1961 dollars would be $411.28 in 2007 dollars. That's as recent as the calculator goes. Isn't inflation wonderful?

looks to me like it sits about 2 inches higher than the trunk - more like a hatch than a lid - nasty.

wasn't there someone recently who posted pics of a BRG BE that a guy had converted for his daughter? (I think it was either a newspaper or magazine article. pretty sure he added a trunk.

Who needs a trunk! Or door handles, or windows,..... or horse power!

Yes, that car was done years ago in KC and the body work was professionally done, looked like a factory job.

No seat belts, no swaybar, no roll bar, no lights, no brakes.
If you want a boot, get a wellington.

sorry.
fugly indeed.

As I have said before Glove boxes and rollup windows are just a fad. They will ffffffade away .

A while ago on e-bay there was a BE with, I'm sure, that after market trunk set up. The seller was pushing it as a rare Healey prototype. It was pretty rusty and I don't think it sold. I lose track of time but I think it was a couple of years ago.
