Wondering if there are any tricks to make sure the top stays attached at speed. The steel rail tends to work out of its slot at the top of the windshield. I've heard this has always been a problem. I've a couple of ideas. Wondering what others have done.

I haven't done it myself, but I have seen where people have added addtional snaps in the windshield frame. I saw one with 8 lift the dots across the top of the windshield not too long ago.
 
I have never had the steel rail slip out but I have had the whole windshield frame lift off the glass at 80 MPH with no side curtains.
No damage was done but I could have put my hand between the windshield frame and the glass, it came up that much.
My son has a 58 with a 9 stud windshield, it never lifted but his leaks in the rain.
My solution, no more 80 mph with the top up. :wink:

Whoa!!! Never considered that could happen,Spritenut. I've had 2 bugeyes with the same problem. I'm considering riveting a couple of tabs to each end of the rail across the front of the hood and locking them under the windshield edge. Thought I'd try it on my old top before I do it to a NOS AMCO top I'm going to fit. Also thought I might try glueing the rail to the fabric so that it dos'nt try to move while the wind is working on it.
Sounds like keeping the side curtains on and the speed down needs to be a consideration too.
