BE Throttle cable length?

Hey,
I'm having a problem that when I close the bonnet on my BE, the idle speed goes up. I have determined that I don't have enough free play in the throttle cable, but also that the cable is being bent by the underside of the bonnet. Does anyone have the correct length of the sheath so I can shorten mine?
Thanks,
Scott in CA

If bonnet is rubbing on it then perhaps it's routed wrong. My first thought.

It goes stright from the boss located in the firewall at the toeboard to the boss located on the heat shield. Is it supposed to be tied down?

No. It is supose to be too long and kind of make a loop up in the air. When the bonnet is lowered it pushes the loop sideways, no prob at all.

I'm sure there is a "correct" length somewhere, but, basically the correct length is what works. I wonder if you loosen the cable at the carb end just a bit whether that will solve your problem.
