I've seen some pretty rough wheels restored to near new condition. Something to think about.

Tony likes the Moss "Tourist Trophy" wheels (basically a Moto-Lita knock off). I've gone with a wheel from Mike Lempert ( https://www.pbase.com/mdlempert/wheels ). His stuff looks really nice, though I've been waiting on my order for almost a year due to various reasons.
Edit: Tony often has deals on TT wheels with his Moss connections, so he'd be a good one to ask.

I'm getting the small hub Derrington style wheel. Something to keep in mind is that many of his wheels (like mine) are priced to include the adaptor hub. The TT and Moto-Lita wheels at Moss are prices separately from the hubs.
Were I to make the decision on a wheel today, I'd probably go TT. Tony really likes them, and they use a standard Moto-Lita hub style. This would allow you to switch to a different wheel in the future with relative ease. On the other hand, the Lempert wheels give you some really nice custom choices that you really can't get any other way.
A steering wheel is your interface with the car, and is an area that I felt was worth spending a little bit extra on. I also like that they keep the original Bugeye horn push, and I think that the smaller hub (versus the Moto-Lita style) looks nicer. Just a personal preference though, and a very minor one at that.

Lecarra is a great option. They are now made in Oneida Tennessee about 40 miles from me. I have one of their leather wrapped wheels and love it. I suggest you look at their Mark III. They claim that their B-4 boss works on a Bugeye but it doesn't. It works on Midgets and later Sprites. A Bugeye Moto Lita boss work fine with the Lecarra wheel however.

Thanks for another good alternative. I'll have to wait a bit to spend more money on the resto. The good thing is that I have almost everything else that I need so I may just redo the original wheel for now.

I have a lecarra wheel on my midget. Very comfy and looks nice.
I took the leather wrap off of my original wheel. Surprisingly there were no cracks but I did find lots of 'nicks' from what appears to be the drivers wedding ring on their left hand.
When attempting to clean the wheel I found that whatever paint was used doesn't hold up very well to Purple Power /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif it just kind of melted off. I tried a little sanding to smooth some of the nicks out and it looks like it just may work until I can get a new one.
