Please Correct me if I am wrong - Opening for Speedo and Tach in a BE takes a 3 3/8" Gauge.

Reason being SpeedHut just announced a 20% off Black Friday sale starting this evening.

Can someone please confirm for me?

Tis the time for another Christmas Present for Bugsy - GPS Speedo and Matching Tach.

For anyone who has ordered SpeedHut Gauges. What options did you go for. Thinking Center Disc to match the original
look 0-100

High Beam on Speedo, Can Tach accommodate a Generator / Alternator Lamp Low Voltage

And if I add a Generator / Alternator Lamp do I still need an exciter bulb in the circuit if I go to an Alternator - Negative Ground of course.

For a pillow dash car the 3-3/8 gauge is the one you want. You will have to enlarge the opening about 1/4 inch or so with Dremel or air grinder and that means controlling the dust. I hid the little antenna under the carpet on the panel over the diff in front of the trunk divider. Works great. I used the turn signal indicators because the MG ones are often hidden by the steering wheel.

This is the one I ordered. It looks enough like the Smiths to look like it belongs. The 140MPH is just for looks.

As for the alt, I have found when using three wire internally regulated alts that one must retain the incandescent charge indicator light, otherwise the alt will not charge. A 530 ohm 2 watt resistor may be sufficient as a substitute.

Thanks but .I need the answer for a Bugeye Dash. Glad I asked. ok time to go and pull the speedo and actually measure. I could always wire up the BE turn signal indicator as the trigger for the alternator but then I may get into changing the flasher unit. Someone has been down this road before.

The hole for the Bugeye speedo is 3 7/8".

Thank You Sir, you stopped me from taking time on Turkey Day to tear the dash apart to measure. So the next question becomes a SpeedHut 4" Speedo and Tach take a X? Sized hole to install. Time to do some research.

Hey Jim -
I installed 4" VDO gauges in one of mine. I know that Dremel is your friend. It takes very little to put the 4" in the dash. Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Placed my order for Tach and Speedo this AM. They are on Vacation Today but added a few options including adding Turn Signal and High Beam on Speedo as well as Ign Lamp on the Tach, and yes I know I still need a regular bulb I the circuit, will mount under the dash someplace, to activate the Alternator. Asked if to was possible to add AH Wings Logo to gauge. Would be a real small font, will need to see artwork proofs from SpeedHut before I give approval. BTW, Austin Healey Logos are available. Google Austin Healy Logo and several sources including one at MOSS Motors will allow you to download the .jpg file.

View attachment 46018Here is the look I am going for. Steering Wheel on Bugsy has slots not holes but this looks to me to be pretty good substitute for OEM, Simple and clean. GPS Antenna will mount magnetically on dash behind the mirror or as Blue Max did it can go on the back of the dash mounted mirror. Anyone looking for a Jaeger 0-8k Cable Driven Tach? Nice tach available. 4" Hole. Price is right.
