BE Dash on Ebay

Nice breakdown, JP. One issue certainly is that the cost to restore any Spridget (even a Bugeye) to true concours quality will far outweigh the value of the finished car. It wouldn't be hard to drop $30k for a true 100 point restoration. This is usually true most cars, even the really high dollar Ferraris and Bugattis. That level requires seasoned professionals, and they don't come cheap.

Spridgets have always been a low cost/high fun car, a great way for those of us with limited resources to have something fun and classy. If I suddenly had corporate-CEO-level resources, I'd have the Jay Leno warehouse full of interesting rides to play with (restore them to 100 points, drive them down to 50, repeat /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif ). But that'll never happen...

So I just enjoy my little Bugeye as best I can. I wind up somewhere between #2 and #3 -- mostly stock, but with a few upgrades (1275, discs) to make the driving more fun. Couldn't care less about the paint, as long as the metal is sound and it looks good from 20'. I just want to drive!

C. they aren't sexy. (I know, I know) or at least they are only to us. Again, there is just more of a "cachet" to Big Healey's etc. (Had a friend in my Orlando club describe Midget owners as the pond scum of MG owners. Even at an MG party someone asked, "so when are you getting a "real" MG?" - meaning a TD/ TF/ etc. etc.
Cripes! Doesn't that make me want to jump up and join that MG club?

Actually a great group of people and a great help in many ways. If they suffered from anything it was that they had started out a TD/ TF club and expanded to all models as their members got ahem "vintage" like their cars. Most of the time I was youngest there by several decades.

Great fellowship and outings though (the main purpose) Oh, and best part, the club was free to join and cost $15 to quit. Needless to say they are international now /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
