After hearing me complain about my computer ( a 50th Birthday gift,in 2005),
she bought me a new one,& now I'm totally lost,as the "old familiar ways" are all gone.
It has (I think) Windows Seven, which means something to those who can keep up
with technology.
I can't find any of my old settings, pictures, etc.HELP!!!

Doug - step one. Don't try to figure out all the changes on a web forum. Everyone - including you - will go nuts trying to figure out the details of your particular setup (which they can't see).

Take the computer to a computer store, or Staples, etc., and *pay* someone to show you the basic interface (I assume Windows of some sort). Or even better, contact a high school IT department, and get a recommendation on a student you can hire to tutor you through it.

Just my two cents.

Or just ask your grandchildren how to work it.

hmmm - I'm wondering if younger kids even known how to turn a computer on. The ones I see these days are using tablets and smartphones. Maybe they've "moved beyond the computer age" - and don't really get involved in figuring out and fixing technology problems at all. Just have daddy buy a new one!
