BE Bonnet hitting car

I've stripped out my engine compartment, including all rubber bump stops that hold the bonnet. Now when I go to open the bonnet the rear of the bonnet gets hung up underneath the part of the body where the windshield wipers are located.

Any ideas? I want to get this fixed before the car gets painted. Is it because the rubber supports are gone? Also removed the rubber strip that is located at the back of the engine compartment.

I think if you look close it will have to do with the hinges and the cross support that the hinges attach to. Through the years things fatigue or simply get bent. I rebuilt the bonnet on my car and the support the hinges attach to was completely reworked. Also, some body shims between the hinge and the support might help. When doing this and after your paint job, use lots of masking tape to protect all edges that might contact each other. Lastly, these bonnets even when new didn't fit perfectly.
