BCF on Barrett Jackson Auction

Hi There Hap,

Did Mike Joy personally come & visit with yourself?

darn; I wish someone would buy my house here in NE PA so I can move down to the Greenville area.

Its starting to get cold up here & I don`t like it!!!!

Russ

Tony,

Tell us "All" here who it is so we can "ALL" express out sentiments!!

Russ

Surely if the prefix "British Car Forum" is trade marked then would it not be a breach of the trade practices act irregardless of the suffix/extension?

Lets keep the names out of it please. There is nothing illegal about it - just not something I would ever do. I have contacted the individual and respectfully requested he reconsider using those.

Maybe he is "setting up shop" in hopes that he can capture members IF BCF.com suddenly closes?

:iagree: <span style="font-size: 17pt"> <span style="font-weight: bold"> BINGO!!</span> </span>

He's like a lizard or a buzzard...sneaking around trying to feed on the left-overs of the dead.

Wonder why he doesn't help Basil with keeping the BCF alive instead?

Because he is a lizard or a buzzard. Good news is that he has already alienated everyone who pays attention to what is going on here at the Forum. The bad news is that people who are not aware of us may stumble onto him first. However, the lack of posts or members on his site should clue them in to something being wrong. I don't see any activity on his site.

I got this answer from Mike Joy to my email telling him about his slip-up:

<span style="font-style: italic">"Hi Tony,
Good to hear from you...Guess I got it confused on the fly with mgexperience... which was .com and is now .net.

I do know that a number of folks found Basil's site despite my goof and signed up.

Thanks,
Mike"</span>

Well, it's good that folks are finding us, I wish Mike Joy could clear up the site address on the air the next time he's on, but I guess that's asking for a lot.

Folks, I am quite surprised at the responses to my purchasing two domain name that were not in use. I am very committed to the continued success of the BCF and to be honest I did get concerned when I saw that it might be going away so I did grab the names with good intentions.

For the record I never had any intention of ripping anyone off though I will say I was very concerned (as everyone was) about the uncertainty and loss of a great community such as the BCF. When it looked like it was going away I did inquire about purchasing the BCF

Since it appears Basil is sticking with the BCF I have redirect my domains to the BCF. I hope the community continues because it is a wealth of information that would be a tremendous loss to all.

I am apologize to all for any confusion but it was clearly not my intention to offend anyone.

Curt - glad to hear you say that; I take back all the bad things I said...but, you'll have to admit our suspicions had some foundation...you asked Basil if he wanted a partner when he was coming to grips with how to continue the BCF & then as soon as Mike made the slip, you pounced on those 2 domain names & immediately put a BETA version of a BBS up on a site - one that looks remarkedly similar to the BCF.

Glad you're ready to help us keep this place alive. Membership here isn't expensive - you could buy a Platinum membership & host a website about your 2 gorgeous cars

Heck, I'll bet Basil would swap you a year's worth of web site hosting for control of those 2 BCF names!

Tony,
Thanks for the comments, I understood and I can see both sides. Problems solved, lets keep the community going strong and see if we can figure a way to get Basil 20k members

Curt - 1 of the links works, the others don't.

Steve: Basil did; he was just being polite & staying out of the fray.

Redirect still doesn't work.......
You may need to check your browser, I have test from two PC's and they redirect just fine.

Tony,
Are they working now?

Yes, I did PM Basil on this.

Thanks,

Restarted my computer....the "BritishMotorForum.com" redirect isn't to the BCF but to the version you have stored on your computer; "BritishCarForum.org" redirect takes me to a page with a list of web results, i.e., a list of car-related websites; same with "BritishCarForum.net".

This is very strange, I just put in a different redirect type in so try it now. I no longer have my old forum up so that must be cached in your browser some how. What browser are you using?
