So, since the mention on Barrett-Jackson, sombody has grabbed "BritishCarForum.net" & "BritishCarForum.org" to capatilize on your success?

A$$HOLE....is he a member here on the real BCF?

& I think Basil should cancel his membership here & block his computer from ever getting back on here!
 
That's a pretty lowlife thing to do. So far it looks like he doesn't have much interest though. If a member here, maybe he should be exposed.

What's so difficult? It took me all of 30 seconds to get his name, address, email, phone number, photo and directions to his house.

I don't agree with what he's doing but it's nothing illegal. I'm surprised Basil never registered those domains himself in order to prevent this! Most companies with established web sites own every possible variation of their domain.
 
Want ever car site's pop they will not be the same as this site. I have been a member of British car site that is in England. It has not been as active as this one and it has been around all most as long.

Actually as I recall when I first registered my domain, those two were not available, otherwise I probably would have. I should have kept better tabs on it. You're right, its not illegal, but if someone wants to start a forum I have no issue with that, but I feel as if they are trying to exploit someone elses' hard work (mine) over 8 years for their own personal gain, instead of making their own forum a success on its own merits. Let's put it this way - it is NOT something I would do, legal or not.
 
It's an obviously intentional rip-off of BCF, no doubt about that. Pretty crappy thing to do, and it will fail miserably because of this fact.
 
:iagree: & that's my point...he came here, saw something great, heard about the slip-up on Barrett-Jackson, & jumped on those 2 sites building a shell that looks a lot like this one without thinking twice about hurting the BCF.

&, yep, Basil kinda screwed up on this one...but I can understand how what with everything he's doing...they wasn't available when he started & how often do you check on them...plus, the guy jumped so quickly when the slip-up was made that nobody could've gotten ahead of him...sorta like that last minute bid on ebay.

I subscribe to a DNS service that includes that, but there are free services to look up domains: www.whois.net
 
Interesting!! Everybody on the BCF should search it!

But, it says "BritishCarForum.org" & ".net" is stll available to buy.....he only bought "BritishMotorForum.com"

He also only bought "BritishCarForum.net"...

Basil - go buy "BritishCarForum.org"!!

You must have mistyped it! Remember on that site, select .org from the drop down but DON'T type it on the URL.
 
I cannot say that I know him, nor do I recognize the name.
 
Sorry....he bought both of them Saturday.

He joined BCF on Dec 25, 2007 in the evening.....lives in Brentwood, TN & has an MG TF & a Triumph TR3.
 
There ya go, that's how I did it. The whois info on his new site lists name, address, email and phone number. An additional search located his house and a photo of him. If he was going to do something so lame, you'd think he wouldn't post his info publicly like that.
