I need to take the cables off and clean them up. It seems I recall the cables should be removed and reinstalled in a certain order. The car is positive ground. Does any one know?
 
HI sgjcpa, it really soes not make any difference. However, it is safer if in your case you hook up the Negative lead first.This insures that you do not accidently put a short circuit across the battery while tighening that connector.-Fwiw---Keoke
 
The ground cable should always be removed first and replaced last. Doesn't matter if the ground is pos. or neg. As Keoke indicated, that stops a spark from happening if a wrench connected to the hot lead accidentlally comes in contact to a ground. It makes sense to avoid that around a gas tank.
