I have a 76 MG Midget that had an under sized battery from a previous owner. I purchased a new battery (size 24) indicated for the MG. It should fit into the tray behind the heater unit, but with the angle of the hood, I can't seem to manuever it into place. Any helpful hints other than removing the hood to place it in (as in just get a smaller battery)?
 
Loosen the heater unit? Pretty sure it's the same as my Midget, just 3 screws or so. Probably a good chance to get back there and do a little cleanup at same time!
