I am replacing the battery cables in my 64 BJ8 Phase 1 and would like to know the correct cable colors. An earlier post suggested marine cable, which sounds like a good idea. Since I can get either red or black, which is which? My car is a positive ground model....is the positive cable red? Is the negative then black? Not that it matters, but would like to have degree of accuracy. Thanks.

Yes, original cables were black but unless you're into originality I see no reason why a positive cable should not be red.

Not to bicker, but he said "accuracy" not "authenticity" and I read his question to mean that he did not know what wire should be red in a positive ground car were he to use red and black cables.
