Hi guys,

does anyone have an idea on what kind of batterie plug can be best mounted in the trunc? I have a BN7 and batterie charging is always a bit comlicated with the two batteries underneath the spare wheel. I would like to install a plug in the trunc that easyly connects to my CTEC3600 charger.

Thanks and regards from rainy Germay

Hello Alex,
Have you considered hard wiring a trickle charger in you trunk. You can hide the unit. Simply have access to the units power cord, which you will plug an extension cord into when you want to.

Here's a link to Battery Tender:
https://www.batterytender.com/

The below is copied from their site about one of their products.

Battery Tender Junior
12V @ 0.75A $39.95

The Battery Tender Junior is much more than a trickle charger. It has a brain. It's lightweight, compact, and fully automatic; very easy to use, especially in small spaces. It will keep your battery fully charged so that it is ready to go when you are!

Perfect for all lead-acid, flooded or sealed maintenance free batteries (AGM and gel cell).
Complete 4-step charging program (Initialization, Bulk Charge, Absorption Mode, Float Mode).
Automatically switches to float / maintenance voltage after fully charging the battery.
If the battery voltage drops too far under load, full charger output power resumes.
Solid state two color LED indicates stage of charger.
Spark proof.
Reverse polarity protected.
12' output cord.
5 year warranty

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply.
I do not want to drive the charger with me all the time. I´d like to have a simple plug in the back-wall of the trunc that is permanently connected to the batterie. So I can easily connect to the charter at home. I do not like loose cables messing arround...........) Thanks, regards

I use the simple 2 wire plugs (on all my vehicles) that come from rdaio controlled toy car battery connectors, they are cheap, standard and available in most electrical components shops. I always put an inline fuse in the positive side wire that is connected to the battery as close as possible to the battery. I dont like the idea of short circuits here at all!

Alex--

Because of the hassle of accessing the battery (the BN1 is very similar to the BN7 in this respect) I installed an Attwood three-pin trolling motor through-bulkhead female plug on the front vertical face of the boot just below the spare and using two of the molded-in wires went directly to a single 12 volt battery with heavy wire--probably #6 or 8 as I recall. You can use the same set-up for two six-volt batts and also use a battery charger as the source of power.

The female connector has a built-in cover and requires drilling a 1" or so hole in the armacord and sheet metal to mount through the bulkhead. It is unobtrusive and right there if you need to get or give a jump or hook up a charger.

A local boating store may have what you're looking for also.
