Off Topic BAT: I know this is in the wrong category but It's following the BAT discussion here.

Opinion.
Originality doesn't count for much when:
Original paint is so bad it needs to be repainted.
Original interior is so shredded it needs to be replaced.
Original engine is so worn it needs to be rebuilt.

It's not even an early aluminium bodied 120.
It's a short cockpit car.

Somebody will pay that much, then drop another 100K into it and end up trailering it to shows.

Not really an argument, but I'd drive it as is. I seem to have an affliction with survivor cars. Of course, a $54,000+ XK120 is out of my league.

Wouldn't it be desirable to do the mechanical/electrical bits up to really good original condition, repair the seats (a trimmer could definitely work magic with those) and use it like it was meant to be used? I think it would keep its value, and no worries about nicks. I don't think it has to be turned into a trailer queen.

Looks like the first car I went to look at in 1965. Found it in the Exchange and Mart. The owner would not come down from 300.00 pounds. I ended up with a TR2.

On the other hand , this is exactly what you want to restore ! There is flawed thinking to buying one of these for $25,000 that doesn't even cast a good shadow , then spending another $50k to have somebody piece the body back together ! Therefore any selling price under $75k has to be a good deal. I've got $35k in the same car and it is nowhere near this good. Kevin

I love reading the BAT comments, I don't remember $300 XKS, but do remember when ratty ones were $1000 or so. I miss they days when you bought them cheap and had fun with them. Now they are "investments" but they kind of have to be unless 50-100k is play money to you. I too would (if I could) buy it at make it reliable and safe, then hood about in it whenever I could.
