Basil, How come the ALT + keypad numbers to bring up symbols, such as the pound sign, music notes, etc, works during editing, but won't transfer to the posting window? It changes to long numbers. PJ

I use extended-ASCII characters on forums all the time. They work fine...there's no "music note" in the standard extended-ASCII character set though.

A list of the usable codes/characters is here.

Well, it apparently does work. Not sure why it's not working for you Paul.

I've even used the Linux set.

I'll give it another try using Internet Explorer. PJ

Workd here, now let's see if it will post?

Nope! Only the pound sign works. ????

Funny thing is, it works fine in the preview, but goes to the numbers when posted. ???

OK, now Fire Fox.

Doesn't work there either. Just the pound sign. I must be using the wrong codes, but it's a mystery why everything is fine until I post it.

Paul, funny thing on my puter. It doesn't show UNTIL I post

Don, I haven't tried it on my desk top yet. This is my lap top with W-7. Kinda crazy why it works on the pound sign and nothing else. I wonder if this computer is British made and Mr. Lucas had a hand in it! :jester: PJ

What are your default fonts? For your desktop, Firefox and BCF. All can be changed and some fonts don't have all the extra characters.

Arial Greg, but, understand that I can bring up the symbols during typing in the preview windows perfectly, it only goes to numbers when I click on post message. That's the part I don't understand. I'll figure it out sooner or later with a little help. PJ

Google unicode for winblows, Paul. That may help.

Thanks Doc, I'll give that a try. PJ
