Did anyone see what the TR6 went for in the auction? I haven't been able to watch all of the coverage. So I don't know if I missed it , or if they didn't show it.

I've was watching the auction off and on and must of missed it. Would have been nice to see it and how much it went for. Any of any info?

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

Almost makes me regret the color change of my car (it was originally Pimento).... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pukeface.gif

Almost but not quite.

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

$23K doesn't seem so outlandish (for a top quality restoration) when you think that that much dough probably wouldn't put you in new PT Cruiser Convertible.

There are somethings money can't buy... but a nice TR doesn't appear to be one of them.

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

Would like to know ,who in the area did the resto.

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

I'll need to check the site when I get home. At work the filters stop any connection that has to do with auctions.
I guess the increase in value is a good thing for current owners. It is certainly not good for anyone who is looking for a TR6. If prices continue to rise our hobby will be out of reach for guys like us.

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

It'd be nice to get an overdrive for $23k... then again, look at those sweet headlight stone guards! Pete

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

I like the original chrome wiper arms.

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

Just like almost every other car down there: insane money!!!

But, I suppose $23K sounds like a great deal compared to $107,000 for a '67 Hemi GTX CLONE!!! (Which could be made for $50K)

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

But look at the difference between that Pimento TR6 and the white (lot #603, I think). Went for about half the price, and looked in decent condition...

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

Could have been simply because of the color. Red Sports cars get attention. Even though I don't like Pimento, IMHO it still turns more heads than white will on sports cars.

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

An interesting point has been made - that a red sports car will attract more attention than any other color. I remember when I had my TR6 first painted (it was green), the body guy said, "You want it red, right?" (it's still green). Unfortunately, a red Triumph will always bring more on resale, witness the Barrett-Jackson auction. It's funny, when I go to car shows, the red cars rarely hold my attention. Maybe I have programmed myself to dislike the color, or just think that all LBCs should be variations of BRG. Now, that said, I saw a cool vintage 911 the other day screaming down the 4-lane dressed in
Fluorescent Porche Red! Now THAT caught my attention.....

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

I downloaded the underhood shot of the white one from the B-J website. (I'll be putting the stuff back under the hood of mine soon, and wanted a nice underhood picture)/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif
The white car may have been rebuilt, but looks like a daily driver compared to the red one. Corrosion on bolts, older rubner on steering column, etc.
Probably a decent price for a decent car.

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

After watching the auction last night I am just stunned. I wasn't that long ago Reggie Jackson of baseball and muscle car fame sold his 69 Yenko Camaro for $100,000.... I couldn't believe it! Now we have a Chevelle going for a $MILLION$+++ /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazyeyes.gif There is a good supply of vintage British cars around, but AH 3000's are going big now....... is the TR6 next? I see plenty of people willing to part them out on ebay, and there was only 100,000 ever built. There can't be more than 70,000 of them still around and the counter is clicking down daily.IMHO I think the best restored TR6's will sell regularly in the 20's, and we will see 30's by the end of the decade.

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

70-100,000 cars is a big number of TR6s

And they are no way as cool looking as a big healey,
20K-30K for any fully restored car is almost losing money if you pay a shop to do all the work,

Big money is in "real" big engine Cameros , Vettes etc

Re: Barret Jackson TR6 Is This it?

Its all speculation right now anyway but the last time I saw an attempt at a world wide accounting for TR6's was through VTR (possibly) in the mid nineties (I think) and it was figured (somehow) to be just under half of production numbers, so around 45k. Due to totaled cars through accidents, cars returning to the earth, and cars being used as parts cars for those that are still capable of being on the road etc... Which is still quite a bit and not enough to be considered "rare".

Like I said though its all speculation, I'm not sure how you would even try to come up with an official number of cars still on the road or capable of being on the road. Which is why I didn't pay close enough attention to the study to remember it accurately. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
