TR6 Barn Find TR6

Hate to see one with a lot of rust! Looks like my 69 that needs restored but with a lot less holes. Wheels were an education though. I thought someone had put TR3 or 4 hub cap style wheels on my 6.

Those wheels are likely original, but the hub caps are not. TR250 and 69 TR6 with steel wheels had "Rostyle" wheel covers that fit onto pegs similar to the earlier wheels. The earlier covers will fit onto the Rostyle pegs.

I believe that vehicle is more Ferrous Oxide than British Roadster... sad.

Cool TR6 grille badge on Randall's B&W pic.

69TR6.jpgCould the rostyles have been an option? I had a 69 in about 1981. It had no wheel covers on it but it had the pegs that were configured for the early half covers except they were longer than the earlier ones, which made the covers stand out farther from the wheel. I later had one just like them that came with a TR3. All were the wider wheel like the TR6 but had the longer pegs. I gave $950 for mine in 1981 and then spent a fortune getting it on the road. I often think how much money I would be ahead if I had just kept it. The guy that bought it still drives it.

They were standard AFAIK, but I'm sure the dealer would take them off and sell you something else if you asked. Lots of folks didn't like them (I've heard they have a tendency to rattle).

Rattle and fly off down the road!

I have a couple of sets of those wheels. Planning on using one set for a 250 with Rostyles so I can put a little a bigger tire underneath. Yes the Rostyles rattle a bit and will come off if you lay into a curve.
