MGB ballast resistor 75 mgb

I have a 1975 MGB and I wonder if it has a so called ballast resistor. I can turn on the key, the engine starts and when I remove my hand from the key it stops. It appears that the ignition switch is fine because on other occasions when the engine is cooler it will start normally. Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome, Andrew! This is the forum for introductions. I'm moving this over to the MG side, where you'll get lots of help.

Check the ignition relay. Either a round cylinder or a square box mounted to the left inner fender of the engine bay.

I believe you have two relays...the forward most one is the ignition relay; the one to the rear the starter relay.
