T-Series Balancing Drive Shaft

What's it cost to have a drive shaft balanced? Are the U joints left on when balancing? I pick up a slight vibration at 3500 rpm and not sure if it's the drive shaft, so I want it checked. The vibration only happens when on the road and at 3500 rpm. If the cost is over 100 bucks, I'll buy a new shaft assembly. PJ

Forgot to ad, the U joints are new.
 
A vibration in that RPM range is common.
Usually not associated with the driveshaft.
As I remember it may be the "Roundness" of the front tires.
Check that out first.
Also check the tightness of the U bolts on the rear axle.

Should be under your estimate. On a T type you can pull the cover off and drive. Check the rear Trans mount and drive to see if you have a balance issue.
 
Put it on a lift, make a holder for a piece of chalk or crayon. Start car and put in high gear to keep rotation slower and move chalk or crayon closer to shaft until it starts marking on the heavy side. You can temporarily balance with a hose clamp, moving screw clamp side to the opposite of the mark until it levels out. Take shaft in and have it weighted and permanently balanced.
 
Three other things to check,
.
1) From the WSM. The sliding Joint is always at the Gear Box end.
2) The U-Joints are in line.
3) If 1 and 2 are OK, Rotate the input joint 180 degrees.
