Today was a horrible day at work. I really wasn't feeling too hot, however I planned to tough it out, and make it through the day. My co-worker sees this, and after I run to the bathroom with some dry heaving, he tells me to go home. I told him that I can tough it out, but he calls down to the big boss, who calls back up to my desk then proceeds to tell me to go home. I still get paid for 8 even though I was only there for 1.5. What's driving me up the wall, is that we have a rather small section, and due to that, we have one major rule. Don't s#&$w your co worker! I kind of felt that I broke that rule by not being able to support my co-worker.

Seems to me your co-worker didn't feel that way at all....he was looking out for your best interest knowning that were the situation reversed, you'd do the same for him. Seems the big boss agreed. Bring them all donuts and coffee when you go back as a thanks.

If someone is that sick, I tell them to go home also. I don't want to catch whatever they have, and nobody wants the place shut down because everyone is sick.

sounds like you work with some nice people. your mate did the correct thing. if you stayed and "infected" him, you would both be out of commission.

hope you're feeling better.

You did not let down anyone on your team. This is how a true partnership should work. You can recover quicker by getting the rest that your body needs, and then go back to work ready to work and do your share once again. And while you are home feeling ill, they will do fine keeping things under control and moving forward...

Get better soon.

Bein' that ill stinks. Taking it to work is a bad thing, the rest don't need contamination. Admirable that you want to shoulder your workload when under the weather but ill-advised from the point of your employer. Get well!

You are very fortunate indeed to have such a boss.
My last Boss before retirement was just the oppisite, He would have insisted you stay no matter how ill you got. Or if you stayed home that day he would have even came to your house to try to intimidate you into coming to work. Yea he was a real SWELL FELLOW.
More than once, when he INSISTED I come to work sick. I intentionaly made sure he came in contact with whatever germs I was carrying Just because he was such a nice guy and all!
It doesn`t pay to mess with a Scorpion surly you will get stung

Once again, on this one I am in total agreement with the good Doc.!  Pure logic!!

Well I think it was just something I ate because I was feeling a lot better around 2300 hrs last night. I made it back to work today. I really had no choice as far as today goes seeing as I'm working by myself today. There's only three of us in our section.
