Thanks Boss - been holding our breath for a couple of days. This is the third house we put an offer on but are absolutely delighted. The main house is from circa 1850 and is on the local historical register. We love that the Primary bedroom is on the main floor with a spacious ensuite so - lots of opportunity to age in place. We can't see the water but we do have deeded water access. How did I miss this? Congratulations. May you have many happy years in your new abode!
Put in an offer and the only condition was a house inspection. (1850 house!) We then found out that there had been a previous offer which couldn't be completed due to lack of financing. They had however had an inspection done. So, we contacted the inspector and yes he would sell us a used inspection for half price. He couldn't tell me what was in it as we didn't own the inspection yet, but, he could answer this question.
Is there anything I need to be concerned about in the inspection?
Answer: Yes.
Bumhats.
And then he said we needed to be there so he could walk us through the issues together. Well after a mostly sleepless night and a three hour trip we get there only to find that the 'concerns' were basically trees planted too close to the foundation and we can't use the wood fireplaces without inserts. Seriously!? That's it? I almost punched him in the head (figuratively of course
