Bad Economy Forces Crane Cams to Shut Down

What a shame. I hope a solution is in the works. When mergers start to fly, there's no telling how long a company will last. It's up to the number crunchers then whether they live or die.

220 employees three years ago! This is a great loss to the Daytona community.

That's a shame. It would be interesting to learn where the revenue stream(s) went: supply chain problems?; recession?

Lots of history in the company, too.

That's really sad (even if he hasn't made much in the way of cams for LBCs).

I met Harvey Crane at a tech conference in Dayona Beach in the mid-80s.

I saw this yesterday and for such a huge player in
the aftermarket/performance industry to fade away like this is a shame.

Looks like Crane isn't gone. It has been acquired by another company. This usually means a significant shake-up, and certain product lines are likely to disappear while others are enhanced.

That was back in mid 2006. Apparently the new owners shake up shook everything apart. But they may reopen, see here.

as an aside, was visiting a friend yesterday whose company makes car parts. - not a brand name - and for new construction. Daily he is getting calls to pick up product lines because other companies have gone bankrupt. He currently has people laid off but figures by the summer will have more work than he knows what to do with. It's an ill wind that blows no one some good I suppose.
