The fuel sending unit was balky so I took it out and shot it with WD40. Got a little overspray on the copper windings. What's the prognosis? Will the spray foul the windings? ( the float pivot is working better now)

No. It will be fine. Weasel Juice won't hurt the windings.

I took my cover off after I had tried everything else.... messed with the winding, wires, etc.
put the cover back on... and the darn thing worked....
so my guess is that over spray won't hurt...................

..... Well I do not think it will do permanent harm but it is an insulator and might cause it to become inoperative until it dries up.--Fwiw--Keoke.........

I keep a small spray can of WD40 in my glove box for when when I inadvertently go through a large rain puddle of water and my engine dies. Spraying WD40 on the distributor wires will restore the spark! I even used it on my sons Honda CRV when he got stuck after going through a large puddle of water!

Thanks, guys. Time will tell. I'll use it 'til I'm forced to do something else. Seems to be the Healey way.

WD40 works as a cleaner, sometimes, but after it dries there's no lubrication. Better to use something like a carb cleaner then a light oil like 3 in one. Whats more important is that while you had it out of the tank did you clean and tighten the wiper arms?
