"Back To The Future"?

Or forward to the past?

Here we go! There's a link to a road test at the bottom of the article:

New MG

Re: "Back To The Future"?

Could work for folks everywhere in the world except here! Darn it!

Re: "Back To The Future"?

Here we go again.

Not to sound sarcastic, but it's what, a 15 year old design? Like you said, Tony, we'll never see it. Nice looking car in it's day, but dated now, in my opinion.

Like the Studebaker revivals that come up almost anually.

A lot will depend on pricing. It's going up against other sports cars, like the Opel GT (Our Saturn Sky/Pontiac something), Honda S2000 & the like.

Would make an interesting Top Gear feature.

I wouldn't knee-jerk buy one just because it's a MG. A used Z4 or Boxter may be a better value for money.

Re: "Back To The Future"?

I'm glad to see the MG revival, with our without "foreign" capital behind the venture. Better than no MG at all, no? And, it's nice that Longbridge still has a factory that hasn't been plowed into a shopping mall parking lot.

It means jobs for the English, a very good thing with the funky economy now. And even if it's the Chinese Yen paying the bills, it's good old British sweat and blood that's building the new MG. Built with English hands, that in itself is worth a lot, IMHO.

A Chinese car being built in Longbridge: who woulda ever imagined that forty years ago?

The global economy, very interesting . . .

Re: "Back To The Future"?

:iagree:

And, from the road test:

"But Shanghai know MG can have a long-term future only with dynamic all-new models wearing the famous octagon badge – and that the TF is merely a reminder MG is alive.

Time will tell if they have the new models."

All in all, I'm very glad to see the MG marque back on the road.

Re: "Back To The Future"?

:iagree:

And I do hope they invest in a newer model; though I wonder where that might go style-wise....
