Howdy gang,

We just got back from our honeymoon -- ten days in New Zealand. All I can say is that it's paradise. Most amazing place I've ever been.

congrats on your marriage! (pics?)

My brother was there for 3 months this fall (did you see him?

he had the same assessment.

Congrats!

Apparently, they have some great car racing there (as well as some amazing terrain and wilderness).

Linda's God-son was an adventure guide for a tourist service in NZ for several months in '08. He showed us some amazing photos.

And my cousin and her husband just got back from there two weeks ago (they spent 3 weeks there)...they shared some wonderful photos with our family (on Facebook).

Congrats from Shirley and myself also!

My niece married a guy from New Zealand this summer in a ceremony here for her family. Last week they had a ceremony there for his family and my sister and her husband went down for that. Didn't see them by chance?

I'm jealous! We were supposed to go there for our 25th -
Our dollar was worth about two of theirs,& airfar was down to
around $500.It would have been a cheap trip - but family problems
got in the way.
Do you have any pictures to share?

WAIT A MINUTE, WAAIT AAHHH MINUUTE !!!!, he never said they left the hotel room!,, congrats any way.

Huh. Are you saying that there's more to NZ than a hotel room? Guess we missed that other stuff!

Seriously, thanks so much for the kind words. We actually traveled around a fair bit -- we started in Rotorua (the site of some volcanic hot sulfur baths, visited the farm where Hobbiton was set in the Lord of the Rings movies, and then headed to the South Island. On the South Island, we stayed on the Kaikoura Peninsula on the east coast and then we headed to the glaciers on the west coast. It's one of two places on the planet where rain forrest meets glacier. We took a helicopter to the top of the Fox Glacier, which was outrageously amazing.

We also saw a lot of old cars. Interestingly enough, we saw a *lot* of American muscle from the 60s, all with left hand drive -- everything from Mustangs, Cougars, Chevelles, etc. We also saw a ton of Morris Minors, several MGBs, an MGA, a bunch of older Holdens and Aussie Ford Falcons (think Mad Max). Each day we probably saw two or three old cars out on the road, rain or shine. Did I already mention that the place is paradise?

I'll post some photos later this week.
