Back from Bulgaria

Sorting through a LOT of photos. Here are two interesting ones from Sofia (BTW, they put the emphasis on the first syllable - SOfia).
When Emporer Franz Joseph visited the city in about 1910, he was appalled at the condition of roads (compared to his home - Vienna). So, he ordered millions of bricks sent to re-pave the center of the Sofia. These are yellow (and solid yellow all the way through). They like to refer to their "yellow brick roads" (cue Munchkins!). Evidently, these are very slippery when wet... but sure are otherwise interesting.
