Back axle halfshaft oilseal

When I unpacked the parts [from Moss] I discovered that the oil seal 535-085 was too large. Its OD was 75mm compared with the old seal 72mm. I called Moss and a very helpful guy there took another from stock and measured it for me at 72mm. Maybe I was unlucky and mine was a rogue seal that had been incorrectly packed. However, I thought I'd post in case there has been an incorrect batch an other listers may have similar problems.

They are sending a replacement with no charge, so I have no complaints with the service. These things happen.

Indeed they do. I always encourage people to work with the parts suppliers to resolve problems, and 99.99 percent of the time they do they right thing when a problem occurs. They are in business to sell stuff, not to make enemies and lose customers.

In fact we are very lucky that there are so many sources for parts for our cars, cars that have been out of production for nearly 40 years, and that were never built in huge quantities in the first place. Moss Motors is also among a select group of suppliers that support the clubs in several ways, and we owe them thanks for that also.
