The guys made it through Day 2. I'm not sure the gearbox did as well. Seems it started making some noise.
Noise was due to no oil in the tranny. It was full before they left. It took 1.5 qts. So now they will be keeping an eye on the gearbox oil. The car is running hot, 200* but the oil pressure is up and it's not boiling over. So it's either a bum temp gauge or this engine just likes it hot.
Retarding the timing did no good nor did adjusting the carbs. But 2 full days of driving at speed with a loaded up Midget in 80+ degree weather may just make it run hot.
