What exactly is involved in this kind of a project? Its something different, I'm interested. More details please.
 
What is a B 210 transmission? PJ
 
It's from a Datsun (an old Nissan for the youngsters) and I don't know much about the conversion other than I have heard it works well in Midgets, but I don't know why it would be any different in Bs
 
You need an adapter plate, mofified shifter, different speedo pinion & driveshaft...there's a company in Soddy Daisy, TN that builds conversion kits.
 
Tony's right (as usual, from what I've seen as a Newbie). The company is Rivergate Restorations and they offer a complete turnkey kit (they use the 260z/280z tranny) four about $1K less than Moss's T9 conversion. They're here: https://www.rivergate5speed.com/rivergate.html .
 
Looks like a bigger price difference than that, but then again, the Moss kit includes the transmission.
 
Actually, James is right - the difference can be much bigger than $1,000.... Without the tranny the complete Rivergate kit goes for under $900, and you can get different "levels" of kit. With a cost of $300 - $450 or so for a reclaimed transmission you can have a high-quality 5-speed for a really good price. Plus, Rivergate will throw in a completely rebuilt unit for about $900 - high, but it's warrantied (for 1 year, I think?).

Additionally, while the T9 is an excellent transmission, the Datsun ain't bad. And the gear ratios - particularly at the top end - are generally better depending on the model year.

On another forum, somebody posted this link: https://www.geocities.com/z_design_studio/ . It shows the speed in MPH for each RPM increment, as well as the reverse: rev's per mile.

I've been up to Rivergate's place - they definitely know what they're doing - & when they develop a kit, they do some serious testing - no, I have no connection to them except what I've seen while visiting their shop & what other people tell me.....ask Tim Studdard of GRM magazine.
