What is the axle ratio on an 80 TR7 5 speed?

Is that u joint on the driveshaft replaceable? Seem to recall it isn't.

Don't know about the five speed, but the four speed is 3.63:1 (I think). Supposedly good to use in a Spit.

For the life of me I can't imagine who'd make a drive shaft with a U-joint that couldn't be replaced? That sound like somebody who designs American Cars - The old concept of "Built-In Obsolescence" ( sorry about the spelling.)

Hi James,

The ratio for 77-81 5 speed is 3.90:1. If you drive shaft has a U-joint on the rear it is replacable, however the CV joint on the front (they claim) is not servicable, or if you have a drive shaft with two CV joints the same is supposed to be true. However, I took my to a local drive shaft repair shop last spring because the front CV boot was torn, and they were able to replace it with out any problems. They also told me they could service the CV joints as well when needed.Sure beats $270.00 for a new one.

Thanks everyone, am suprised it's that low.No wonder I was doing all those wheel stands ...

And I like the idea of being able to have the CV's replaced locally.
