oooohhhhhh.. thats why it's the mysterious "X"... I dunno, You're actually considered the generation after if you're under 20 I think.
I've never liked "Gen X" as a label. Like I said, I've never fit into my generation very well. I'm not a good example (thank goodness)
~edit~ here's a link to a general definition (includes a list of all the labeled generations)
Generation "X" ages

Yikes, missed that one by a few. Wonder what silly moniker will be attached to "my" generation, although I hardly identify with those my age.

You're as 'young' as you feel...

Or as old as you need to be!

Eschew all labels. it's "Tribal Bull (excrement)"

Pick what you like, or better: "Run what ya Brung!"

Or: It's too much fun NOT to do!!!!

40 kinda stunk...but I agree with 43...I think I'll do it again. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

My mother was 24 until my sister turned 25, then she couldn't get away with it anymore. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/mad.gif

Generation "X" was originally applied because supposedly we didn't want to be labeled. See how nicely that worked out. we got labeled with the mark that means non-specific label.

If it really matters to you then you are officially Generation "Y". Since "Y" follows "X" it became an easy label. Its really just an identifier for marketers to use to pidgeon hole you into a category for them to advertise to your age group.

Like Doc said, eschew the label. Be who you want to be. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

29 going on indefinitly. Actually 56. I'm living proof that we get too soon old, too late smart.
As per being a boomer, Dad met Mom in a hospital in Scotland and the rest is history. Do have 2 brothers and 5 sisters so I guess they did their part to add to the numbers. Mom was English. Plan to go see her homeland soon. Maybe this is where this car obsession comes from?

Hmmm... me Ol' Fella would claim only to be a Heinz-57... Mum was purebred eye-tie. The car obsession here came from early exposure to English cars more than heritage or genetics. I wuz 'imprinted' while still in nappies. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

My Grandfather met my Grandmother in England. Other than her English side (who has some very interesting characters in the lineage) The rest is mostly German (Moms side of the family is all German). The Loseke side is actually of Viking decent when we search back past 1400. I'm the only real car freak in the family. It was hard growing up on a ranch in Wyoming and being drawn to sports cars.

That's how we manage to hang around with all the boomers. a small segment of gen X knows how to suck up to hang around with the truly cool people (See???)

Nicely said. I've always tended to be the young guy hanging with the, um, more experienced folks. Been that way in music and in cars. No complaints here.

I'm in the top half of the "demographic", and I worry, sometimes, about the "graying" of our hobby. Both my sons do NOT understand my facination with old cars....nevermind British ones (or even Miatas)...If it's not a truck, or "Fast and Furious" they have no interest.
Any idea how to young guys and gals onboard...?
Take care Bob

My two sons are a mirror image of what you describe...no worries though as eventually as we gray out to nothingness, there will be precious few of the kinds of cars we are drawn to, to go around! The ones that survive will be RARE oddities or museum pieces!!

I have to smile every time I read one of those "the younger generation won't carry the torch" posts. Don't worry, it's been taken care of. In fact, you should expend that energy worrying about other, more pressing issues...like the white MGB getting larger in your rear view! Remember, I'm young, I still have something to prove!
