Autocross tire pressure??

Next week I'll be attending the Healey Conclave. When I signed up I registered for a gymkhana but now they are calling it an autocross. Back in the sixties when I last drove my car I ran a number of gymkhanas. Back then I didn't do anything prior to the event as far as boosting tire pressures. My understanding is that an autocross generally involves faster speeds. After having had my car off the roads for about 40 years I am still acclimating myself to driving it. My current tires are just regular road tires provided by a local tire place. Are there any thoughts on how I determine what, if any, changes I should make to "compete" in the autocross?

I've had a glimpse of the gymkhana course. Unless they change it, it will be pretty "loose". This favors the big cars that change directions slowly. So, I'd add 5 extra pounds of air per tire to be sure you do not roll onto your sidewalls. You will not go beyond 2nd gear.

Thanks, Trevor. I'll pump them up before I leave home and then I can drop them for normal driving after the event. Having the Datsun tranny I'll be able to select between first and second gears that my smooth case didn't allow me to do easily.

They'll have a compressor available at the autocross site. And there is a gas station about 300 yards up the road from the site.

If you can get your car tech'ed Sunday evening, then Monday morning will not be as hectic.

That sounds great. We will be arriving on Sunday afternoon so I'll get the tech out of the way that evening.
