Auto swamp cooler

I've had this rather unique swamp cooler for quite a few years. I say unique as its the only one I've ever seen. Anyhow, its just like one for the roof of a house except this one plugs in(six volt) but can be stepped down to run on 12..Has a filler port, drain plug, variable nozzle head that has four movable flaps....pads, pump and motor. Has four adjustable legs to level out on floor..seat...whatever. really cools. I put some water in it and fired it up....couldn't beleive it..works like a champ. Made??? in Phoenix by a comp. named Jet-Air....just put it up for sale on a VW site. Here it is...I hope.

I remember them well, growing up my Dad had one on our '51 Plymouth. They do work pretty well as I recall. His hung on the window, never saw a floor mount before.

memories - memories. Window mount evaporative coolers were sure popular in west Texas in the 1950s. Not very effective in "eastern humidity".

Oh, and the widow visors, hood mounted bug deflectors, and suicide speed knobs. Those were the days.

Yep, called Swamp Coolers. Silly name, BUT, they work well until the humidity gets high. They are being used in outdoor places now in very large sizes.

I remember seeing them on car windows in the 50/60's and envying the people in those cars while I was sweating.

Dad had one, {Window mount} on our 47 Pontiac Chiefton, I remember it well as a kid!
He used to stop at the truck stops and fill it with ice.
It worked like a champ in So. Ariz. {Yuma}
