Auto Cross in Socal?

I have always have wondered exactly what kind of performance my MG could put out on an auto cross track. I did a google search for any auto cross tracks in SoCal and came up with nothing. I know we have an 1/8 mile drag strip, but I am not interested in drag especially there since its full of hondas with fart can exhaust tips. Any reply would be grateful.

I emailed my father who autocrosses his Miata. Here's his response...

There aren't any autocross "tracks" per se. They're set up in large parking lots and airports. Solo I is done at regular tracks but he wants lower speed Solo II where the safety equipment requirements aren't as stringent. CalClub is the California Sports Car Club and they do Solo II at Hollywood Park, Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego and some other venues. Their Solo II page is at https://www.solo2.com . The link to SCCA on that page goes to the SCCA Solo racing page with good information on the different types of autocross. He should check the calendar for events near him. Note that a "championship" is open to anyone but it's competition so you only get three runs. If there's time left over they'll have "fun runs" ($1 each when I was doing it) usually until it starts getting dark or the course workers go on strike for beer and pizza. But the school events are the best bargain. They usually have you on small ovals and things before going to the course. You get a lot of seat time and instruction, too (with guys who might be able to help evaluate his car's performance). Add the wear on the tires to the cost of the event; parking lots aren't smooth. They'll certainly love seeing the MG out there.
