Austin Shearline

Does anyone know anything about the availability of spares parts for the 1952 Austin Shearline? I have a good chance to get one and want to get my ducks in a row first.

Thanks,
Glen Byrns

Glen I think engine parts should be available, and the car was made in very low volumes so likely most mechanical parts were common to other models. Be careful to get one with a really good body, as panels will NOT be available.

Try ~AUSTINWORKS~ in Redondo Beach.

And check out John Herrera's '60s Austin Gasser on the website while you're there.

Austinworks only deals with Austin A40 Devon/Somerset stuff...

As for Sheerline parts, you won't be finding any reproduction parts for the bodywork itself (as someone has said), I suspect many of the "bits" may be shared with other British cars (but don't quote me either :D)

They are a nice car when fixed up, and certainly not a "little" British car... A worthy purchase if you're up the challenge... But then I love British saloon cars, and like to see as many preserved as possible, within reason

Is this the car I saw on Craigslist recently? It looked like a worthy project from a distance. I think you best bet for spares will be in the UK. https://www.exe-col.freeserve.co.uk/ is where I would be looking. Many of the Lucas parts on these cars are inter-changeable. Looking at the car I would say it has lucas 1142 side lens' (I have a set of spares) and may even have some headlamps and lens' that might work. Good luck with the project & GO Aggies !!!!!!!!

try kipmotor.com they seem to have sheerline parts. (saw one for sale the other week - lovely)

The engine was also used in the early Jensen five-O-somethings. Not that there are a lot of them to pick parts from.

Good Luck

Glen -

The Austin Sheerline shares essentially the same motor as the Austin Healey 100 and Austin Atlantic, except it has two extra cylinders on it. As a result many of the motor parts are readily available, with the exception of things like head gaskets.

I'd recommend starting with the Austin Counties Car Club, they have an excellent parts list. I would contact them and ask who in the UK deals with Sheerlines and Princesses, I am sure there is a good UK club for them:

I just noticed this link, they may be able to help you:

Good Luck!
