I deceided to remove the oil pan on my 3000, and after cleaning etc., I am in the process of installing it. They use cupped oval washers and I didn't pay attention to how they were oriented. Is there a special way? I have the convex side up, how about the oval? Thanks guys, a great site for guys like me doing it himself......

Welcome to the forum, but you posted in the wrong place. I'm moving your post to the Austin Healey forum. You posted in "Help Using this Forum" which as the name implies, is a place for asking questions about the forum itself

The fact that they're cupped is proof they've been overtightened (common).

They're supposed to be flat

I don't have the torque spec etched in my mind, but I know it's a very low value, probably on the order of 5 LbsFt.

Edit: okay, the same size bolts on the front cover are <150 Lbs-In (no listing found in the General Data section of the first manual I picked up). Repeat pounds-INCH, NOT pounds-foot!

Thanks, they did seem a little wrong. Since it's still on the lift, I'll take them off, hammer them flat and reinstall.
Also sorry for the wrong forum post ...new at this.
