I deceided to remove the oil pan on my 3000, and after cleaning etc., I am in the process of installing it. They use cupped oval washers and I didn't pay attention to how they were oriented. Is there a special way? I have the convex side up, how about the oval? Thanks guys, a great site for guys like me doing it himself......

The fact that they're cupped is proof they've been overtightened (common).

They're supposed to be flat :wink:

I don't have the torque spec etched in my mind, but I know it's a very low value, probably on the order of 5 LbsFt.

Edit: okay, the same size bolts on the front cover are <150 Lbs-In (no listing found in the General Data section of the first manual I picked up). Repeat pounds-INCH, NOT pounds-foot!
 
Thanks, they did seem a little wrong. Since it's still on the lift, I'll take them off, hammer them flat and reinstall.
Also sorry for the wrong forum post ...new at this.
