Austin in the cotswolds

Hello to all Healey owners, My cars are Austin A35's but I have a strong connection between one of mine and the classic picture "Healey in the Cotswolds" If you have the picture to hand look at it carefully and then look at the Photo of my car. Can you spot the Link?

Yes, looks like the same reg number, but the Healey picture is a bit fuzzy.
 
Yes, spot on KFO 731 is the number in both cases. I have contacted the artist and he tells me he made it up to avoid an owner wanting royalties from him publishing the picture. He now has full permission to continue using my number. I found out about it by googling my number and was surprised at the result. Can I have honorary Healey status for my Austin?


The photo shows Dinky outside Titchfield abbey in Hampshire which was turned into a mansion after Henry the eighth dissolved the monasteries.
 
I had thought it might be the attached which shows an Austin sedan similar to yours in a picture by the same artist with--perhaps--a castle in the background.

I realize that a Devon is an A40 while your car is an A35 but in any case it was close enough for me to wonder if that might be the connection.

I viewed the pic of the Healey but never thought to compare the license plates--"Hidden in plain sight".

I don't know if you know but English registration numbers are issued to the car and cannot be changed but can be transferred to newer cars. My car has a strict non transferrable plate which means if the car dies this number can never be re-used so it is amazing that the Artist made up my number for his picture. I'm glad it is on a red Austin in both cases!
 
Yes, the importer claimed the Mini was over 25 years old to bypass the regulations, and the VIN was from a newer car. Should have been disassembled for parts. Fortunately, not a problem with any Austin Healeys.
 
Hey Dinky, I would give you honorary Healey status, just for tracking down the number and checking with the artist, however, I am not in charge. BTW spotted the reg. straight off.

Hi Bob. I'm glad it was spotted, It was quite a coincidence that he chose my number and put it on an Austin. I see you are local to me, are you a member of BMCC?
