Hey Guys,

New member here and this may be a dumb question, or who knows maybe not, but anyway here goes.

Does anyone know if there is a way to determine the original VIN for a AH 100/6 without the vin plate or original engine and transmission. No Title just bill of sale.
Such as rearend number or original part number from parts on the car itself.

Thanks

Cricket

There are numbers on the body panels (hood & trunklid) if they're thought to be original to the car. There's a number on the right front shock mount too.

Note that these are "body numbers" and not the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) that would've been used to register the car.

For pictures of their location, do a search with my username (Randy Forbes) and VIN numbers, or something. This has been gone over before.

Armed with the body numbers, British...Heritage "might" be able to complete the puzzle for you.

I have a similar problem with my Healey. I do have the "body number" and "Batch number" stamped on that little tag on the firewall. The British Heritage folks said they could use these numbers and back out the original serial number -- but they wanted quite a bit extra for this service -- I think it was about 40 pounds more.

I decided I didn't want to know the original number that badly. My car is titled on the engine number, which may or may not be original.....
