austin healey bonnet

Offline
o.k. so i have some parts i must move to make room for more parts, i have a bonnet that has the "crease" through the middle, what year healey does this fit, i seam to recall 1961?, thanks.

Anthony,
It will fit all the big Healeys 56-67
I agree with Stephen that it was orginal equipment on 57-58,
I think the Longbridge cars. I have the creased hood on my 61 but I know it is not correct for that year.

Geoff Healey comments on that in (at least) one of his books; seems there were still a few lying about and sporadically still used on some early 3000s.

But yes, physically, it would fit any of the 6-cylinder cars.

My '57 (as California titled, but built May '58__go figure) has it's original number-matching ribbed hood.

All replies are correct. If I recall also, there was no brace on the creased bonnets. The prop rod should be on the opposite side as well. I have one also. The body shop restoring my '60 BN7 said my bonnet wasn't in very good shape and maybe I should be looking for a new one, so I purchased one off ebay. Many years ago. I had it acid dipped and all, looks really good, no rust anywhere. By the time I had all that done the body man finished my car using the original bonnet, go figure, so I'm stuck with the creased hood. :nopity:

The crease is sometimes used as one of the identifying marks of a Longbridge built 100-6, however since it fits other years, it is not an absolute identifier.
