My old propane Weber finally gave up the ghost and it was time to replace it. Went to Lowes and bought a new Weber Genesis. It came in a box, unassembled. WHEW! I think I would rather build a Triumph! This thing took me 4 hours to put together! I have to say, everything fit well (save the fact that some of the hardware was missing, used my spares). Great grill. Love Webers. But buy one already assembled.....

Assembling a Weber Genesis...not easy!

Because it looks so nice,I bought a Weber. It's 5' wide, all stainless, has brass burners a bunch of gadgets <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-size: 12pt">and</span></span> cold spots on the grill. For what I paid for this thing, it should work better than it does. I hate it! My old grill has lava rock above the burners and has a perfect even heat. You didn't have to move stuff around the grill to get them to cook properly. So here I have a large white, (stainless), elephant on the patio and we still use the old one.
but, I'll never buy another!

The second area that I shovel after a storm is my patio, where the Weber Genesis gas grille is stored. That gets as much use during the winter as the oven does.
I rebuilt it completely five years ago after it gave me nearly 20 years of great service. I had the bottom box blasted inside and out and then I painted the outside with heat resistant paint. The original red lid is still fine and the teak handle across the front cleaned up well with a light sanding. I did cover that with clear polyurethane this time around.
The original frame was rusted a bit, so rather than blasting and repainting, I bought a new one from Weber along with new flavor bars and grilles. I should get another 10-15 years out of it before the next tear down.

tr6bill, we have a covered deck outside our kitchen sliding door so we cook out on the grill year round, had a webber for 19 years that i totaly rebuilt 4 times till the bottom fell out, cought a sale at the local depot store on a stainless "vermont casting" unit that cost less then replacing the similar weber we had, very happy with the new one, the only advantage i had with the webber is that a local hardware store carrys every replacement part for every model that webber ever made, i guess in another 4-5 years ill find out how good "vermont casting" is with thier replacement parts.
