Hi Alan, I've just come across your very helpful article while investigating whether I need to change the wiring on my single-speed DR3A now that I have converted to negative earth from positive. It seems I don't need to bother. But I am interested in converting it to a two-speed motor and have started looking for a 10 ohm 'power resistor' - there seem to be a number of different types on the market, some of which look quite bulky, ranging from Wirewound, Grid, Chip/SMD to Water resistors. What type should I be looking for and does it need to fit inside the motor casing or can it be mounted externally?
