someone needs to pry me away from the keyboard, these locost sites are giving me way too many ideas! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hammer.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

If you like the look, Simon, there is a popular book out there that details how to build a Lotus-7 from the ground up for 500ÂŁ. I think that would be less than the Arkley kit.

...and it wouldn't look like someone put a Seven in a vise with a Spridget and foreshortened the two of 'em into THAT.

harumpf. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Rob, a little tubing, some good reference drawings, some sheet aluminum, BIG rubber hammers.... don't forget the beer, and Zetec makes a nice fitting unit...

BWUHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!!!! THAT'D terrorize the neighbors by gosh... keep them li'l urchins up onna sidewalks where they belong... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

LOL.

Believe me, the thought is crossing my mind.

In my other hobby I've definitely adopted the big engine + tubing + big tire philosophy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

The chassis fabrication work looks pretty straight foward, and I'm envisioning a cheap domestic I4 or V6, RWD donor car like a mustang or camaro providing the majority of the other parts....

....must stay out of the classified adds and away from locost sites! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

From the photo I see you've already got a good tubing bender, the welder and all the necessary tubing fab gear... now all you'd really NEED would be an English Wheel and *SHAZAM!* You're cobblin' together a tried, tested chassis!

Next project could be a counterfeit Maser "birdcage"!!

...dam good thing this bunch'a BCF'ers don't live closer together. We'd ALL be in hot water. Constantly. "John" would know *exactly* where to visit to apprehend th' perps...

On second thought, why not in a community?!? Mebbe THEN we could actually make this nonsense PAY something! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

unfortunately I don't own a bender, I usually just borrow one when needed, but definitely have a nice MIG and more other tools than sense!

If someone locally offers me a cheap RWD chevy or ford, I'm doomed /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Again: mebbe a "good thing" we ain't all geographically closer. I know people who'd THROW an old mustang or two at it.
