Arizona Roadrunner 2009

This past weekend was our annual 3-day 900+ mile drive around the Southwest. This year's cruise took us north from Tucson to the Painted Desert, up & down Old US666 and along the Mexico border before returning to Tucson. 3 Forum members were among the 12 cars on the run.

We pause at Salt River Canyon on the Gila River:

Our first overnight stop was at the WigWam Motel on Route 66 in Holbrook:

The Aspens were in brilliant color as we drove 'The Devil's Highway':

That looks like it was great fun. I wasn't able to get Mum's Spitfire on the road in time. Hopefully next year we'll have both her Spitfire and my Jensen Healey on the trip!

I'll have to try and make it down for that sometime! Beautiful country. My dad is a Holbrook native and the desert southwest is my favorite place on earth.
